Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to provide high-quality support in a veterinary setting. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while assisting veterinarians in various medical procedures.
Duties
Perform routine examinations and assessments of animals to monitor their health status.
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, to aid in diagnosis.
Maintain aseptic technique during surgical procedures and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
Handle animals safely and effectively, ensuring their comfort and minimizing stress.
Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Monitor vital signs and recovery of animals post-surgery or treatment.
Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and observations.
Requirements
Proven experience in animal handling, particularly with dogs and other common pets.
Knowledge of animal physiology and veterinary critical care practices.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
Skills in animal catheterization and aseptic techniques are highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
A genuine love for animals and commitment to providing exceptional pet care.
Certification as a Veterinary Technician is mandatory in the state of Colorado; relevant experience will be considered for a Veterinary Assistant position.
