We are looking for a dynamic individual who loves animals (especially cats!) to manage the day-to-day operations of our animal program. This job will require handling cats and dogs (as well as the occasional guinea pig and bunny), medicating animals, and maintaining a clean and sanitized kennel room. Kennel cleaning is mandatory.

Candidates need to have good communication and people skills as they will be working with fosters and adopters. They also need to be well organized as they will be maintaining medical files on all animals in-house and in foster.

 

Medical responsibilities include:

a.      Ensure necessary medical supplies are always on hand and ordered as needed.

b.     Maintain open lines of communication, with all fosters to ensure all rescues in our care are receiving appropriate medical attention. Coordinate vet visits, emergency room visits, health checks, and vaccines as appropriate.

c.      Coordinate clinic dates for spay/neuter on animals that have not been fixed.

d.     Review all medical records for upcoming adoptions – ensure they are correct and up to date for adoption day.

e.     Update online software with new medical- ie: clinic visits, vaccines, adopters that spay/neuter on their own, etc.

f.       Maintain positive relationships with all of our outside medical contacts

 

Adoption Day duties:

a.      Check incoming rescues with medical concerns and review medical concerns with potential adopters or foster.

b.     Ensure medical records are complete and reviewed with adopters. Provide meds to adopters/fosters as appropriate. 

c.      Greet adopters and explain the adoption process, and what to expect, and remain available throughout meet and greet to provide helpful tips to ensure a successful meet and greet. Assist as needed with hands-on help on handling the pets. Answer all questions and ensure that a donation is made before leaving.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

a.      Scheduling – work with the director on setting up times for adopter and/or foster pickups

b.     Text loops – answer incoming medical/food/behavior questions from adopters and fosters

c.      Keep proper notations of all happenings with animals in our internal system

 

Vet Tech experience is preferred but all applicants will be considered.

This is a position with plenty of opportunity for growth as we are a young 501c3 (2017) that is growing. This position is vital in promoting the health and welfare of animals and must be filled by an individual who is passionate about animal care and dedicated to supporting our team.

Some weekends are mandatory, but scheduled in advance. FT – 40 hrs/week
