Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic radiology such as X-ray imaging.
- Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests using veterinary software systems.
- Prepare animals for examinations or treatments by performing animal restraint, animal husbandry, and maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols while monitoring patient responses.
- Perform venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertions, vascular access, and animal catheterization with precision and care.
- Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical & intensive care, assisting with anesthesia management, and maintaining vital signs during procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of all treatments, laboratory results, radiology diagnostics, and client communications to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Skills
- Extensive kennel experience combined with animal handling skills across various species including dogs and horses.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers.
- Experience with veterinary software for record keeping, scheduling, and diagnostic reporting.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely while demonstrating excellent pet care practices.
- Skilled in venipuncture (IV insertion), animal catheterization, medication administration, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with emergency medicine protocols and veterinary critical care procedures to respond effectively in urgent situations.
- Experience in EzyVet is a plus.
