What you get to do:
Provide the highest standard of nursing care for animals living at Busch Gardens as well as wildlife rehabilitation cases
Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures and with treatment of animals including procedural set-up and clean-up, animal restraint, anesthetic monitoring, medication administration, sample collection, radiographs, operating veterinary and lab equipment, and assisting with husbandry for hospitalized animals as needed
Perform in-house laboratory procedures and prepare samples for shipment to outside labs
Assist in maintaining hospital areas and vehicles
Data entry in medical records and hospital databases
Provide excellent guest service
Depending on experience
Provide mentoring to associate vet techs and participate in hospital training program
Maintain or assist in administrative duties as assigned such as drug and supply inventory, ordering, maintaining vendor relationships, scheduling repair services, other
Perform other duties as assigned
What it takes to succeed:
Veterinary Technician degree or equivalent
Certified Veterinary Technician required
Must have a valid Driver’s License and must be able to meet company’s driving requirements.
Team-oriented, with a positive attitude
Work 40 hours/week with ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer skills necessary
What else is important:
Ability to lift, push and carry up to 50 pounds
Perform the following physical activities on a frequent basis: stand, walk, climb, bend floor-to-waist/waist-to-overhead and reach overhead, simple grasp and fine manipulation tasks.
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying Florida weather to include extreme heat
Able to follow directions and protocols for specified zoological areas and work independently
Work in a consistent, professional, and positive manner displaying consideration, tolerance, cooperation, open communication, reliability, and uphold company reputation and confidentiality
Conservation-oriented
