Veterinary Surgeon – Per Diem (Finance)
The County of Riverside’s Animal Services Department is seeking Per Diem Veterinary Surgeons to join our team.
Responsibilities include:
Performing physical exams, administering anesthesia and medications, and conducting sterilization surgeries and immunizations on small animals.
Supervising paraprofessional staff, providing training and advice on proper animal care and treatment.
Maintaining control of medical and surgical supplies to ensure adequate stock for the clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of veterinary medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
A valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of California (applicants without a license may be appointed if they acquire one within 12 months of hire).
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
Additional Duties:
Perform physical examinations, vaccinations, and diagnostic treatments to determine appropriate animal placement and sheltering.
Use appropriate medical equipment to perform sterilization and other surgeries, administering anesthesia and medications as needed.
Perform immunizations for disease control.
Conduct postmortem exams to diagnose or identify pathological findings to ensure community health.
Maintain records of clinic activities and prepare reports and correspondence.
Supervise staff, instruct and train in animal care, euthanasia procedures, and clinic operations.
Respond to inquiries from the public and department staff regarding clinic activities.
