Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary care, with the ability to assist veterinarians in various medical procedures and provide exceptional care to our animal patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills, knowledge of veterinary terminology, and a genuine love for animals.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform diagnostic tests including X-rays and laboratory work to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health issues.
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
Utilize proper aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and training.
Restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments to ensure the safety of both staff and patients.
Participate in dental cleanings and other dental procedures as needed.
Assist with grooming tasks when required, ensuring pets are clean and well-cared for.
Qualifications
Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program is preferred.
Proficiency in veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and dental terminology is essential.
Experience with equine care is a plus but not mandatory.
Knowledge of dog training techniques is beneficial for providing comprehensive care.
Strong skills in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling during examinations.
Ability to perform basic grooming tasks as needed for patient comfort.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
