Overview
We are seeking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Oregon Trail Veterinary Clinic . The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and possess excellent communication skills to provide exceptional customer service in a veterinary setting.
Responsibilities
Greet clients and their pets warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
Schedule appointments, manage the calendar, and handle client inquiries efficiently.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up-to-date.
Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
Assist veterinary staff with animal handling and restraint during examinations.
Provide clients with information regarding pet care, medications, and treatments.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
Handle emergency situations calmly while prioritizing patient care.
Preparing animals for procedures, administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and educating pet owners about their pet’s health and care.
Requirements
Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy is essential for effective communication with clients about their pets’ health.
Experience in animal catheterization and veterinary critical care is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong skills in front desk operations, including appointment scheduling and customer service.
Familiarity with equine care is a plus for those working in specialized practices.
Proficiency in animal handling techniques, including restraint methods for various species.
Previous experience in a kennel or veterinary environment is advantageous.
A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is crucial for success in this role.
