Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team at a busy (privately owned) veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for pet owners, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations. This role requires a love for animals and a commitment to ensuring their well-being, as well as the ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
Schedule appointments and manage the clinic’s calendar effectively.
Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up-to-date.
Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
Assist veterinary staff with basic animal restraint and handling during examinations.
Provide information on animal care, including nutrition, behavior, and preventive health measures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
Collaborate with veterinary technicians and doctors to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and knowledge:
Experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.
Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry.
Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is a plus.
Previous experience in front desk operations or administrative roles is advantageous.
