Lake Forest Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced veterinary receptionist to join our team! SomeSaturdays and Sundays are required, and Sunday shifts include a pay differential.
Location: 24271 Muirlands Blvd. Lake Forest, CA 92630
Clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 7 am-6 pm; Saturdays, 8 am-4:00 pm. Sundays 8 am – 4:00 pm
Compensation: starting at $20.00/hr.
The Receptionist is the first and last contact that a client will have with the hospital and a key to creating first and lasting impressions. The Receptionist must have exceptional client service and communication skills, computer literacy, ability to handle payment and financial issues, multi-task, a friendly attitude, and confidence to deal with stressful situations. The Receptionist will support veterinarians, technicians, and veterinary assistants in daily patient and client care.
This position requires work on Saturdays and Sundays. Sundays do include a pay differential.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system; answer client inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures and questions about veterinary services and products; and provide knowledgeable advice about wellness, prevention, and diseases.
Screen and route call to appropriate staff; take and deliver messages promptly to appropriate staff; and pull patients’ medical records so staff can properly document information.
Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make surgery and appointment confirmation calls.
In medical records, the details discussed during client conservations include the date, time, critical points of the discussion, and any required information.
Enter accurate charges; explain invoices to show value for care provided, stating all services and products supplied before the total; echo recommendations when checking out clients.
Collect payment when services are rendered, including processing credit cards and online payments.
Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts.
Check medical and computer records for accurate client addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses, and scan appropriate new documents into patient records.
Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients.
Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
