Old Mill VeterinaryHospital has an opportunity for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team!

Located at 91 Lawson Rd SE, Leesburg, VA 20175, we are AAHA accredited with 25 years of experience in the community. Shift Details: Full-time (30+ hours/week) with flexible shifts (8 and 10 hours). Rotating Saturdays are required.

Compensation: $20.00 – $22.00/hour (based on experience)

Job Summary: The Receptionist is the first and last contact for clients, responsible for creating positive impressions. Key skills include exceptional client service, communication, computer literacy, handling payments, multitasking, and maintaining a friendly, confident attitude, especially in stressful situations. The role supports veterinarians, technicians, assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily care.

Responsibilities:

Greet clients and pets warmly and professionally.

Answer phones promptly, providing information about animal care, services, and products.

Screen and route calls, take messages, and manage medical records documentation.

Schedule appointments and surgeries, confirm bookings.

Document client conversations accurately in medical records.

Process charges, explain invoices, and discuss treatment recommendations.

Handle payments, verify client account eligibility, update records, and scan documents.

Advise clients on retail products and preventative care.

Qualifications:

Computer skills, including email and internet use.

Knowledge of veterinary terminology, with correct pronunciation and understanding.

Excellent spelling and grammar.

Ability to handle emotional situations tactfully and respectfully.
