More about the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Veterinary Pharmacy Assistant to support our pharmacy operations. This role involves filling prescriptions, monitoring and processing external prescription requests, compounding medications, and assisting with inventory and stocking. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for providing top-quality care for pets and their families. The schedule for this role will be Mondays and Fridays from 8am-9pm. We are open to considering candidates who are only able to work one of these shifts.

Essential Responsibilities:
Prescription Processing: Fill and dispense prescribed medications accurately under the supervision of a veterinarian.
External Prescription Requests: Monitor, process, and verify prescription requests from external pharmacies, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and veterinary regulations.
Medication Compounding: Prepare compounded medications as needed, following proper procedures and safety guidelines.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of medications and supplies, ensuring appropriate stock levels and assisting with ordering as needed.
Quality Control: Ensure all medications are labeled correctly and stored according to veterinary guidelines.
Client Communication: Provide clear instructions to pet owners regarding medication use, dosage, and potential side effects.
Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and other hospital staff to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing.
Regulatory Compliance: Follow all state and federal pharmacy regulations and hospital protocols regarding medication storage, handling, and dispensing.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Previous experience in a veterinary or pharmacy setting preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
Familiarity with veterinary medications and compounding is a plus.
This position requires standing for long periods and handling medications.
May involve occasional lifting of boxes or supplies.
Schedule may include weekends, evenings, and holidays based on hospital needs.
