Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Pharmacy Assistant to support our veterinary team. This role is essential in ensuring timely medication processing, clear communication with clients, and efficient pharmacy workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process all online pharmacy requests (including Chewy and other vendors)
- Handle prescription refill requests and ensure timely completion
- Call in prescriptions to outside pharmacies (Hy-Vee, Walgreens, etc.)
- Coordinate with veterinarians for medication approvals and follow-ups
- Identify and assign a backup doctor for approvals when primary doctors are unavailable
- Track and maintain open invoices for medications ready for pickup
- Keep the pharmacy pickup area organized and manageable
- Contact clients regarding unclaimed prescriptions
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in all prescription-related tasks
- Perform client call-backs for routine lab results (heartworm tests, fecals, etc.)
Skills
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, pharmacy, or medical setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of veterinary medications is a plus (but willing to train the right candidate)
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
