Job Details
Peticured, Pet Nail Specialists, has an opportunity for an experienced pet handling professional to help with our continued growth. Candidates who apply must possess several years of work experience that includes practical daily handling of both dogs and cats. Experience using a rotary grinder tool (Dremel) to shorten and/or finish canine nails in a workplace setting is required. New hires receive paid training to further enhance and perfect the skills required of a Peticured technician. Shifts are generally 8-9 hours. Two Saturday shifts and one Sunday shift are required per month. Travel to any of the current locations we service in Metro Detroit is required and reliable transportation is a must.
Compensation
Technicians are paid an hourly wage PLUS additional commission and great tips! Once training is complete techs are guaranteed a minimum of $25/hr to run a shift. Experienced senior techs average $35-45/hr running shifts.
Work Environment
Peticured operates its nail clinics inside pet stores and occasionally at special events. While working, employees should expect to be observed by store ownership/management as well as the public and assessed on the fantastic care of our four pawed clients!
There is generally a high volume of daily clients and a fast paced work setting.
Clients (owners) customarily remain near and in view of their pets while technicians complete each session.
Standard exposure to animal hair/dander, licking, nail grinding dust, and odors.
Potential exposure to scratches, bites, and animal waste/secretions.
Personal Requirements / Physical Demands
In order to effectively perform job duties candidates must:
Possess strong knowledge and experience with dog/cat behavior.
Genuinely enjoy direct physical contact with animals and able to maintain composure with all temperaments and personalities.
Possess high comfort and confidence in quickly recognizing and detecting excessive anxiety, stress, fear, and aggression and be able to promptly adjust the handling/approach accordingly to safely and compassionately complete work.
Have the ability to maintain a positive friendly attitude and work calmly and smoothly under pressure. A personable, kind demeanor is essential to effectively communicate with our customers.
Be able to lift 50+ lbs.
Be able to talk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and twist for 8+ hours
Have reliable transportation and clean driving record.
Have the ability to maintain work station and ensure tools and electronic equipment are in proper working order.
Have basic computer, math, and cash handling skills.

Be reliable and on time. Candidates must able to work independently without supervision.

Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and maintain a friendly, courteous, and compassionate demeanor throughout each shift.
