About Orange Friendly Animal Hospital

We’re a new private own, family and urgent care, full service small animal veterinary hospital located in Orange, California. We provide preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, urgent care, and compassionate treatment for dogs and cats.

We are looking for a Veterinary Operations Manager who wants to be part of a growing hospital and help us build a strong, organized, and positive team culture.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who understands veterinary medicine not someone who only has administrative or office management experience.

About the Role

The Veterinary Operations Manager will oversee the hospital’s daily operations while working closely with the doctors and veterinary team to maintain excellent patient care, client service, and staff performance. The ideal candidate has strong veterinary technician skills, excellent communication abilities, and the confidence to lead a team.

This position is required veterinary experience. An RVT credential is preferred but not required.

Previous management or leadership experience is preferred, but we are also open to experienced Veterinary Technicians, Lead Technicians, or Veterinary Assistants who are ready to take the next step in their career and grow into a management position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily hospital operations and workflow
  • Lead, coach, train, and support veterinary and client service team members
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and client service
  • Assist with managing staff schedules and hospital staffing needs
  • Train and mentor veterinary technicians, assistants, and reception staff
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback
  • Help address employee concerns and workplace conflicts professionally
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee development
  • Ensure hospital policies and procedures are consistently followed
  • Work closely with veterinarians to improve patient care and hospital efficiency
  • Monitor inventory, medical supplies, and equipment
  • Help identify operational problems and develop practical solutions
  • Handle client concerns and assist with escalated customer service situations
  • Monitor hospital cleanliness, organization, safety, and overall presentation
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow and communication between departments
  • Assist the medical team with appointments, treatments, procedures, surgery, and other clinical duties when needed
  • Lead by example and help create a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace
  • Participate in improving hospital protocols, training programs, and overall efficiency

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or veterinary practice
  • Strong veterinary technician/clinical skills
  • Solid understanding of veterinary procedures, patient care, and hospital workflow
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced veterinary environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, doctors, and staff
  • Dependable, responsible, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to lead by example and work as part of a team

Preferred:

  • RVT credential
  • Previous Lead Technician, Supervisor, or Management experience
  • Experience training and mentoring veterinary staff
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software/PIMS
  • Experience with staff scheduling and inventory management
  • Experience handling client complaints or escalated concerns
