Title: Veterinary Nurse

Company: Manukau Veterinary Referral Centre

Manukau Veterinary Referral Centre

Auckland

Due to one of our very talented nurses going on her OE, we are looking for another vet nurse. If you are sick of talking about fleas, worms and food with clients and want to work in a clinic where you are appreciated, then contact us.

Manukau Veterinary Referral Centre is a small, privately owned clinic in the heart of Manukau, dedicated to providing exceptional care of surgical (both orthopaedic and soft tissue) and advanced dentistry cases.

We are looking for a confident, qualified Veterinary Nurse to work full time 5 days a week with no after-hours requirements. Experience is preferred; however, if you are an enthusiastic new grad with a willingness to learn, you are also welcome to apply, as full training will be given. We pride ourselves on getting our nurses to do as much as possible and expanding their skillset.

What we’re looking for:

  • A compassionate animal lover wanting to deliver expert care
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Be proactive in initiating tasks with high attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with a confident phone manner
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • A willingness to use and grow their skills every day
  • Must be registered with AVPRC (Allied Veterinary Professional Regulatory Council) or a desire to become registered with our support

The role:

Our nurses are the backbone of our clinic so we strive to create an environment where your wellbeing is valued, and you can really thrive. Our cases range from cruciate and fracture repairs to root canals and extractions. The daily tasks include:

  • Engaging with clients and referring clinics to ensure their needs are met and they are supported throughout the referral process
  • Admission of surgical and dentistry patients
  • IV catheter placement, intubation and patient preparation for surgery
  • Advanced anaesthesia and patient monitoring
  • Scrubbing in for surgery
  • Providing care for our patients post operatively
  • General and dental radiography
  • Instrument and equipment cleaning/maintenance

About us:

  • We are a referral-only clinic, devoted to giving each patient the care they need and deserve
  • Without the distractions of a general practice, our nurses are able to focus on all the best parts of the job
  • We have multi-parameter monitors and two veterinary-specific ventilators to ensure anaesthesia is safe
  • We also work alongside a Veterinary Analgesia and Anaesthesia Specialist as needed
  • With only two vets and five nurses, we are a highly collaborative team where you can truly make a difference
  • CPD allowance for all staff so you can continue to grow your skillset
  • We provide 24-hour care for our inpatients in conjunction with the Manukau Afterhours Veterinary Clinic

Open Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm. No weekend work required
