Kennel Technician Job Description
Position Summary
A part time kennel technician needed. The kennel technician will provide daily care, feeding and walking of boarding and hospitalized pets. The technician MUST be an observant individual in order to monitor patient’s attitude, behavior, eating, drinking and elimination. The technician must be a team player and willing to work closely with staff and doctors to provide the best for pets in their care. We need a well-mannered, outgoing person who can interact with clients in person and by phone when warranted.
Job Responsibilities
Kennel Duties:
· Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
· Spending majority of time caring for boarders. Checking all patients for any abnormalities and reporting to doctors AND fellow technicians.
· Assisting in other areas of the hospital when needed.
· Working outside to monitor boarders outside, leash walk patients, sanitize runs, and keep property clean.
· Feeding and medicating pets according to their specified schedule.
· Provide accurate documentation thoroughly for any patient in their care.
Physical Obligations:
· Be able to lift patients and carry equipment up to 40 pounds
· Endure sitting, standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods
· Be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment
· Take safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation
· Have reliable transportation.
Hours:
Our facility is open 7 days a week and shifts are needed both during open hours and outside of normal business hours. We provide care for patients every day of the year.
