Duties
- Assist with animal handling, restraint, and behavior management to ensure safety during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices
- Support veterinary technicians with medication administration, IV insertions, catheterizations, and basic animal procedures
- Record keeping of patient information, treatment notes, and medication logs accurately and efficiently
- Help manage client communication by answering questions about pet care, appointment scheduling, and general clinic inquiries
- Monitor animals’ welfare by observing behavior, providing pet care routines such as feeding and exercise, and reporting concerns promptly
- Support surgical procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with anesthesia monitoring, and ensuring proper sterilization protocols are followed
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred but not required; experience with veterinary clinics or critical care is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal husbandry, anatomy, physiology, and behavior is good but not required.
- Ability to handle dogs and cats confidently and safely using proper restraint techniques
- Skilled in cleaning protocols, record keeping, medication administration, and PPE (personal protective equipment) use
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift animals safely, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks
