Kennel Assistant / Veterinary Assistant
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs to 50 lbs.
- Must have a love and patience for animals.
- Must be available to work 1 weekend shift per week and some holidays.
- Must be comfortable restraining cats and dogs of different ages.
- Must be comfortable cleaning up after cats and dogs.
- You will have the opportunity to learn tech skills.
- THIS IS A PERMANENT POSITION
Job duties include the following:
- Restraining cats and dogs for exams and anesthesia.
- Restraining cats and dogs for x-rays and ultrasounds.
- Setting up blood samples for heartworm tests and setting up fecal samples to check for parasites.
- Weighing patients and noting their weight in their chart.
- Cleaning kennel runs and cages.
- Cleaning up vomit, urine, or feces.
- Cleaning various rooms around the hospital weekly.
- Vacuuming and mopping on a regular basis.
- Bathing dogs with regular shampoo and sometimes medicated.
- Doing loads of laundry and putting away laundry.
- Leash-walking dogs several times a day.
- Inform technician or veterinarian if boarders or patients show signs of illness.
- Unpacking deliveries and re-stocking food and medication.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
