Job Summary
The Veterinarian Internal Medicine Technician plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions in animals. This position requires expertise in advanced diagnostic procedures, patient care, and client communication to ensure optimal outcomes for pets with chronic or severe illnesses.
Key Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians in diagnosing and treating conditions related to internal medicine, including endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, and infectious diseases.
Perform advanced diagnostic procedures such as radiographs, ultrasounds, endoscopy, and laboratory sample collection.
Administer medications, fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Monitor and manage hospitalized patients, ensuring proper care and comfort.
Obtain detailed patient histories and maintain accurate medical records.
Educate pet owners on their pet’s condition, treatment plan, and ongoing care requirements.
Assist with anesthesia monitoring and preparation for specialized procedures.
Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and ensure compliance with clinic protocols.
Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to provide the highest level of care.
Qualifications & Skills
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary internal medicine setting.
Strong knowledge of veterinary internal medicine procedures and terminology.
Proficiency in handling and restraining animals safely.
Excellent communication and client education skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
Compassionate and detail-oriented approach to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with specialized diagnostic equipment and procedures.
Training in advanced anesthesia monitoring.
Knowledge of veterinary software systems (e.g., Instinct).
Work Environment
Requires standing for long periods and handling animals of various sizes.
Exposure to zoonotic diseases and potential animal-related injuries.
May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on clinic needs.

Pay: $29.00 – $32.00 per hour
