Job DescriptionEast Lake Animal Hospital is a general practice clinic that also sees exotics and is beginning to incorporate acupuncture into our practice. We are a fun, energetic team and see a variety of pet illnesses and diseases. As a busy GP/ER practice, there is always something happening!
We are located just 30 minutes from Monterey, home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Santa Cruz, with the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the historic Giant Dipper roller coaster. We would love to host you for an externship!
Students will work closely with supervising DVMs to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are open to veterinary students in their final year of veterinary school.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Â to view stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
