Job Overview
Animal Health Center Sikeston is hiring a veterinary assistant. Veterinary experience is preferred but not required for this position.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures.
Handle and restrain animals safely during treatments.
Perform basic grooming tasks such as bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning.
Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including kennels and exam rooms.
Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
Prepare surgical instruments and assist in surgical procedures when necessary.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques.
Qualifications
Experience in animal handling is essential; familiarity with dog training is a plus.
Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is preferred.
Familiarity with kennel operations and care for various animal species.
Understanding of dental terminology and animal physiology will be helpful in this role.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare.
