Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to assist with house calls, home euthanasia service, and body care transport. This role is essential for ensuring a smooth and compassionate experience for our clients and their pets. This will be a contractor position (1099).
Responsibilities
Assist the veterinarian during house calls, providing care and support to owners and their pets. Action Care Mobile Vet frequently handles end-of-life service appointments, so we are seeking a team member who can offer confident, yet empathetic, support to owners during emotional times. Our team works closely with both patients and their owners to provide a caring and peaceful experience.
Interact with clients to explain our procedures and answer questions. Fill out paperwork and collect payment onsite.Prepare and clean medical equipment and supplies, and restock inventory as needed.
Must be proficient with, or be willing to learn, to independently administer injections to pets.
Must be experienced with, or willing to learn, to provide subcutaneous fluid therapy, administer oral medications, and perform nail trims.
Must be familiar with pet body language and know how to work safely around animals at all times.
Must be familiar with, and use safety measures, in handling sharps, veterinary equipment and medications.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role.
Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is a plus.
Knowledge of animal physiology and behavior is beneficial.
Comfortable with client interactions and providing excellent customer service.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Flexible schedule with a willingness to work varied hours and days.
