Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the care of animals. You will assist with various tasks that ensure the health and well-being of pets while creating a welcoming environment for pet owners. This position requires a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, including animal catheterization and veterinary critical care.
Provide general animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals in the kennel.
Maintain cleanliness of the facility by cleaning kennels, exam rooms, and surgical areas.
Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with team members and pet owners.
Restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments to ensure the safety of both staff and pets.
Assist with pet grooming tasks as needed, ensuring pets are comfortable and well-cared for.
Support dental procedures by preparing instruments and understanding dental terminology.
Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian or technician.
Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-treatment care.
Skills
Proficiency in animal catheterization techniques is preferred.
Experience working in a kennel or similar animal care environment is beneficial.
Familiarity with veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team.
Strong animal care skills to ensure the health and comfort of all animals in our facility.
Ability to safely restrain animals for examinations or treatments as needed.
Experience in pet grooming is advantageous for maintaining the appearance of pets under our care.
Understanding of dental terminology related to veterinary practices is helpful.
A passion for animal husbandry to promote responsible pet ownership among clients.
