Veterinary Assistant/Technician Jobs in Severna Park, MD at Severn River Animal Hospital
Duties:
– Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
– Perform animal restraint during examinations and procedures
– Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
– Conduct pet grooming, including shaving, brushing, and nail trimming
– Take X-rays of animals
– Collect and process laboratory samples for testing
– Maintain cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic
– Monitor and care for animals in the kennel area
– Use aseptic technique to prepare surgical instruments and equipment
– Assist with surgical procedures under the supervision of veterinarians
– Provide basic dog and cat handling as needed
– Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with team members and clients
Requirements:
– Certification or degree in veterinary technology or equivalent experience
– Experience working as a veterinary technician preferred
– Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
– Familiarity with veterinary medical equipment and procedures
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
– Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals
– Ability to work well as part of a team
