Job Summary
VCA City Cats is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing excellent care to our feline patients while supporting veterinarians in their daily tasks. Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing animals for surgery.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and ensuring proper waste disposal.
Provide support in pet grooming and basic animal husbandry practices.
Conduct laboratory tests and assist with X-ray procedures as needed.
Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:
Animal husbandry
Veterinary critical care
Animal physiology
X-Ray procedures
Pet care practices
Laboratory techniques related to veterinary medicine
Familiarity with animal catheterization and phlebotomy
