Our 3,800 sq foot building is state-of-the-art, clean and bright, and was built brand new in 2017. Aside from normal veterinary services, we offer advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries (by the owner/veterinarian, who will not provide general practice care) and a diagnostic CT (CAT scan) machine.

Experience is preferred but not required. We are very comfortable with and have great success in training technicians from the ground up.

Working hours are between 8:00 to 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with the lunch break as described below. However, there may be some variation in schedule to accommodate emergencies.

An unpaid lunch break is provided, with slight variation due to case load, daily from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm.

Assistants/technicians will rotate weekend duties, which typically run 3-6 hours per weekend worked, approximately every third to fourth week, and will be on call on assigned weekends. Corresponding weekday on-call for weekdays every three to four weeks.

Veterinary Technicians will:

Load rooms and assist the veterinarian in examinations

Fill prescriptions

Restrain animals for examinations, vaccinations, blood draws, and awake procedures

Monitor vital parameters and other needs of postoperative patients following minor surgeries

Clean and organize exam rooms after visits

Take radiographs

Provide a professional and friendly customer service experience to the clients, including taking accurate histories for appointments, giving discharge instructions, and making follow-up phone calls

Clean up after patients

Run lab work in-house and prepare lab samples for outside analysis

Participate in a rotation of weekend and on-call duties, including assisting the veterinarian in emergency appointments on assigned weekends and evenings, and administering patient treatments on assigned weekends

Upon graduation of advanced examination, Veterinary Technicians will also:

Draw blood

Place IV catheters

Induce anesthesia and intubate for continued anesthesia

Monitor anesthesia and record vitals, including blood pressure and EKG readings

Administer IV medications

Set up, provide, and monitor IV fluid therapy

Be assigned hospitalized patients, monitor them, and administer routine treatments

Scrub into a sterile state to assist the veterinarian in advanced surgeries

Additionally:

While veterinary assistants’ primary focus is patient care, daily cleaning and maintenance is a duty. Veterinary assistants will apply daily cleaning, surgical pack preparation, trash collection, cleaning of dishes, and daily sweeping and mopping.
