Animal Ark Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate, high-energy, and skilled Veterinary Assistant/Technican to join our exceptional Ark team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exotic and companion animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing exceptional medical services to our furry, feather, and scaly patients. This role requires a combination of technical skills, soft skills, patience, and interpersonal abilities to ensure the well-being of animals while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment using aseptic techniques.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
- Provide front desk support including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing client inquiries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including treatment areas and exam rooms.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and post-operative instructions.
- Must be able to life up to 50 lbs with assistance
Skills
- Proficiency in front desk operations within a veterinary clinic setting.
- Venipuncture and catheterization skills.
- Handling various species safely.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with animal physiology.
- Strong skills in aseptic technique to maintain high standards of hygiene during procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative in tasks.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members alike.
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician is preferred but not mandatory.
