Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff. Responsibilities:
– Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various procedures and treatments
– Provide animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures
– Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
– Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and exam rooms
– Administer medications as directed by veterinarians
– Perform laboratory tests and prepare samples for analysis
– Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
– Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
– Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment
Skills:
– Familiarity with veterinary critical care techniques
– Experience in dog training or behavior modification is a plus
– Strong understanding of animal handling techniques and safety protocols
– Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and sample preparation
– Ability to provide basic pet grooming services (bathing, nail trimming)
– Proficient in animal restraint techniques for various species
– Familiarity with aseptic technique in a veterinary setting
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Requirements:
– High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in veterinary assisting is preferred
– Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is highly desirable
– Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
– Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
-Knowledge of veterinary software is a plus
