Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while supporting our veterinary staff. This position involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with animal examinations, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. A strong passion for animal care, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of veterinary practices are essential for success in this role. We do things a little differently at Belmont Animal Hospital and making sure pets and their owners have a great, personalized experience with their veterinary care team is one of our top priorities! We have a strong emphasis on communication- on the phone, text, email, and in-person, so the ideal candidate needs to be comfortable and confident with their communication skills.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by restraining animals safely and effectively.
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic imaging as needed.
Provide compassionate care to animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising them as required.
Maintain accurate medical records and assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Follow aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
Participate in ongoing training to stay current with veterinary practices and procedures.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology is essential for effective patient care.
Strong skills in animal handling, restraint, and husbandry practices are necessary to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures is a plus.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
