Veterinary Assistant – Spay/Neuter Clinic Jobs in West Allis, WI at Wisconsin Humane Society

The Spay/Neuter Clinic at the Wisconsin Humane Society is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing affordable, high-quality veterinary services to the public. This is a unique opportunity to develop or hone your surgical support skills while working alongside veterinary professionals and a management team dedicated to supporting your growth, development, and well-being. While this is primarily a weekday schedule, flexible availability for an occasional Saturday shift is desired to support our community vaccine clinics.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Surgical prep of canine and feline patients while ensuring safety and sterility
Assist with patient movement, monitor vitals under anesthesia, intubation, extubation, and post-operative care
Clean and maintain equipment, surgical quarters and animal areas as needed
Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed
Participate in public vaccine clinics
Provide excellent customer service during check-in and out procedures, during scheduling and when responding to client inquiries
Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, co-workers, and volunteers
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Animal handling experience in a veterinary clinic or shelter setting with a commitment to fear free handling preferred
Availability weekdays from 730am-530pm required
Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs

The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.
