Overview:
Route 516 Animal Hospitalis a busy veterinary practice in Old Bridge, NJ. We’re growing and would love for you to join us as a Veterinary Assistant. We’re a family focused hospital with a positive culture that is looking to expand our wonderful team. On-the-job training is provided.
Some of the responsibilities will include:
Keeping clear medical records of all animals attended to at the clinic, and answering all inquiries made by clients at the front desk.
Carrying out laboratory testing of blood, fecal, urine and other specimens.
Ensuring that animals are well prepared for surgery and medical examination.
Administering medication to patients.
Ensuring that all surgical instruments, kennels, and the hospital environment are clean, and sanitized to prevent contamination.
Handling and safely restraining patients during visit to the hospital.
Working with the Credentialed Veterinary Technicians to instruct pet owners on how to administer medications to their animals at home.
Monitoring patients after surgical procedures to ensure that they are recuperating, and reporting negative changes observed to the veterinarian.
Educating pet owners on treatment, surgical procedures, and medication for their pets at the guidance of the veterinarian.
