Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Safely restrain animals for examinations and treatments
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal)
  • Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and report any changes to the medical team
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Support client communication and provide basic education on pet care
  • Assist with radiology, surgery prep, and anesthesia monitoring (if trained)
  • Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of [1–2] years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques
  • Familiarity with basic veterinary procedures and terminology
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of veterinary practice management software
  • Fear Free Certification or willingness to obtain
