Overview
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality Fear Free care to animals in a clinical setting. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about animal care and looking to grow their skills in a Fear Free veterinary clinic.
Duties
Must complete Fear Free Certification upon hire (if not already certified).
Must be able to comply with and maintain our clinic policy for a drama and toxic free working environment.
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and equipment.
Perform Fear Free animal handling techniques to ensure the safety and comfort of both the animals and staff during examinations.
Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic.
Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian or technician.
Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing.
Provide front desk support when needed, including answering the phone, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
Skills
Knowledge of veterinary care practices.
Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
Experience in a veterinary clinic is required.
Proficiency in animal physiology to understand basic health indicators.
Strong skills in handling animals in a kind and respectful manner.
Ability to handle dogs and cats safely and effectively while ensuring their comfort.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
Comfortable with kneeling on the floor and standing from a kneeling position, as well as lifting up to 40lbs.

Pay: $17.00 – $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
