We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform animal handling and restraint techniques for various species, including dogs and cats.
Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including injections and oral medications.
Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and monitoring vital signs.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
Provide front desk support, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications.
Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis under the supervision of veterinary staff.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and post-operative instructions.
Experience
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is a plus.
Familiarity with animal anatomy and common medical terminology is beneficial.
Experience with dog handling techniques and kennel management is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
