Duties
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and pet care to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and procedures
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and surgical assistance
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, and equipment through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices
- Record accurate patient information, treatment details, and procedure notes in medical records
- Help manage client communication by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and providing pet care advice
- Handle front desk responsibilities including greeting clients, managing appointments, and processing payments
- Support animal husbandry activities such as feeding, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior to promote welfare
Skills
- Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with animal handling and husbandry
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior to assist effectively in clinical settings
- Experience with dog handling, equine care, or other animal species is a plus for diverse patient support
- Proficiency in cleaning protocols, PPE use, record keeping, and maintaining a sterile environment
- Ability to perform technical tasks such as IV insertion, medication administration, catheterization, and restraint techniques
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and understanding of veterinary critical care procedures
