Veterinary Assistant
Pet Medical Center of Westerville is an established small animal hospital with a growing clientele. We are AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited and have been providing compassionate pet care to Westerville and its surrounding communities since 1978.
If you are a motivated, compassionate, and positive experienced Veterinary Assistant with a passion for pets and people, we would love to meet you! Candidates must have at least 1-2 years of experience working as a veterinary assistant.
Must be 21 years of age.
We are a drug free organization and therefore employment with Pet Medical Center is dependent upon the passing of a drug screen and background check.

We strive to provide the highest quality of veterinary care by treating canine and feline friends not just as a pet but as part of our family. Our goal is to deliver exceptional care that promotes a lifetime of good health for our patients while supporting the needs of the people who love them. We understand that every dog and cat is unique therefore we develop individualized care based on the individual pet.
Schedule:
- This is a 33-38 hour work week
- Schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- Minimum 2 Saturdays a month
- No Wednesdays, Sundays or Major Holidays
**RELIABILITY IS A MUST**
- We are a small clinic and every team member plays and important and crucial role in keeping the clinic running smoothly. This position requires reliable attendance and flexibility in their schedule availability.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the veterinarian in appointments by taking histories, educating clients and helping to maintain the flow of appointments
- Filling medications and aid in the demonstration of proper administration to client
- Pet restraint during examination and laboratory procedures
- Assist with surgery prep and clean up
- Ability to use a computer system proficiently
- Perform toe nail trims and anal gland expressions
- Monitor and care for pets after surgery
- Develop relationships with clients
- Review medical records, treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients
- Cleaning, laundry and maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Some College preferred
Experience working as a veterinary assistant
Client Education and Customer Service Skills
Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
Must possess strong communication skills, good judgement and be able to manage stressful situations and work with others on a team.
