Objective
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a High Volume High Quality Spay and Neuter Clinic. The ideal candidate will assist veterinarians and technicians in providing high-quality care to pets undergoing spaying and neutering procedures. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of animals by supporting safe and efficient surgeries, patient recovery, and general clinic operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring they are safely anesthetized and ready for procedures.
Assist the veterinarian during spay and neuter surgeries, including managing surgical instruments and providing support for sterilization.
Monitor the anesthesia levels of patients and report any abnormalities to the veterinarian or technician.
Administer pre-surgical medications, such as antibiotics or sedatives, as directed by the veterinarian.
Provide postoperative care by monitoring recovery, administering pain management, and ensuring animals are stable before discharge.
Ensure that all animals are safely transferred to recovery areas and are comfortable during their recovery period..
Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment by cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
Report any shortages or supply needs to the Clinic Manager or Lead Veterinarian.
Provide support with animal handling, including restraint and transportation of animals to and from different areas of the clinic.
Assist with general clinic cleaning duties, such as disinfecting surfaces, handling waste, and ensuring the facility is sanitary.
Pay is negotiable but starts at $18 per hour depending on experience this is negotiable.
