We are currently seeking team oriented, highly motivated, and compassionate applicants for the position of Veterinary Assistant. We are an AAHA certified, 3 doctor, small animal practice in Manassas that is dedicated to excellent patient care, outstanding customer service and client education. We have a great team and offer a nice, fun work environment and we are looking for the right team-player. Responsibilities for the various positions include: animal restraint and handling; cleaning; assisting with all aspects of patient care, treatment, anesthesia and surgery; monitoring and discharging hospitalized pets, preparing prescriptions and lab work to go to Idexx ; performing minimal routine in-house lab work; and having a primary focus on communicating with clients on medications and education. Should be able to lift 50 lbs or more. Additional duties also include cross training for reception duties: answering telephones, computer data entry, invoicing clients (entering charges), cleaning, preparing patient estimates, providing client education materials and making sure the client receives any medications or products they need that day. This position requires good computer skills, excellent customer service skills and a pleasant personality for answering phones, greeting pets and educating clients. Prior knowledge of veterinary practice is a helpful as it is needed to answer client questions and to perform other related duties directed by the veterinarian. Additionally, respect and courtesy toward clients and co-workers is essential. Must be dependable, compassionate, and able to multitask. You need the ability to respond calmly and quickly in a medical emergency. Must be willing to learn new things, and have a flexible schedule.
