Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and monitoring patient vital signs.
  • Perform animal restraint and handling using humane techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret basic results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manage pet care routines including feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery.
  • Take and process diagnostic images such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files, and document procedures in compliance with clinic standards.
  • Handle animal catheterization, aseptic techniques, and other critical care tasks with precision and care.
  • Assist with animal husbandry duties including cleaning kennels, feeding schedules, and ensuring a clean environment for all animals.
  • Provide exceptional pet care education to clients

Skills

  • Proven kennel experience coupled with animal husbandry skills to manage multiple animals effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray technology.
  • Skilled in dog handling techniques including training methods and restraint for various procedures.
  • Ability to perform animal catheterization safely using aseptic techniques while maintaining patient comfort.
  • Excellent animal handling skills across different species including dogs and cats.

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
