Overview
The Copake Veterinary Hospital is growing and we would love to add to our amazing team! We are hiring an additional veterinary assistant and the ideal candidate will have extraordinary communication skills, strong attention to detail, and incredible ability to work with the entire team as well as individually.
This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of animals while assisting with various clinical tasks and client interactions.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by preparing necessary equipment and medications.
Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively to ensure their comfort and safety during treatment.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning examination rooms.
Record patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant information in the clinic’s database.
Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Assist in managing inventory by ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
Each of our assistants cross train to assist with receptionist duties as well when needed.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and thrive in a team environment as well as strong client communication skills.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Experience with dog and cat handling techniques.
Technologically proficient/adaptable.
Strong work ethic
