Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy. This role involves supporting veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during visits.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared and available.
- Handle animals with care, demonstrating knowledge of animal husbandry and behavior to ensure their comfort.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks, including collecting samples and conducting basic tests.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
- Manage front desk responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, greeting clients, and maintaining accurate records.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with team members and clients.
- Work occasional closing shifts in the clinic. Includes managing front desk from 4:30-6pm and closing down the clinic.
- Work rotating Saturdays (7am-12pm) which include running the front desk, doing morning kennels, and noon kennels for animals boarding.
Experience
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred but not required.
- On the job training is provided
- Familiarity with animal anatomy and physiology is essential to provide effective support in clinical settings.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for interacting with clients and team members effectively.
