Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of animals while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners.
Duties
As a Veterinary Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures
Providing basic care for animals, including feeding and medicating
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic and treatment areas
Handling and restraining animals safely during examinations and treatments
Preparing laboratory samples and assisting with diagnostic tests
Utilizing veterinary practice software to maintain electronic medical records
Educating pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and health maintenance
Keeping accurate records of patient information and treatments
Experience
The successful candidate will possess:
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role within a veterinary clinic or animal care environment
Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices
Strong animal handling skills with the ability to work with various species safely
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is preferred but not required
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members
A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting in a fast-paced environment
