Veterinary Assistant Jobs in Santa Rosa, CA at Wikiup Veterinary Hospital
Responsibilities:
– Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing care for animals
– Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
– Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
– Clean and sanitize equipment and facilities
– Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
– Perform basic laboratory tests
– Monitor animals before, during, and after procedures
– Provide assistance with animal catheterization
– Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
– Maintain accurate records of patient care
Client Services:
– Answer phones
– Schedule appointments
– Check patients into and out of the hospital
– Assist in filling prescriptions
– Enter medical charges and take payments
Skills:
– Strong knowledge of pet care and animal husbandry practices
– Proficient in animal restraint techniques
– Experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field
– Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
– Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
– Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
– Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals and their guardians
