Job Summary: Veterinary Assistant helps and supports the hospital’s team in line with South Park Animal Hospital (SPAH) policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
Assist in all daily duties for the hospital.
Safe animal handling and restraint and ability to lift 40 lb.
Review medical records, take vitals, gather history from the owners and relay to the doctor. Discuss treatment plan, estimates and discharge instructions with pet parents.
Assisting doctors and technicians with patient treatment.
Customer service oriented. Above average communication skills – both written and oral in order to document all relevant medical, client and case related information in the patient record.
Able to use PIMS for scheduling appointments, payment collection and check ins/outs.
Qualifications
Must be comfortable around animals.
You must possess the capability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations.
Skills preferred but not required are ability to administer basic injections, surgery preparation, anesthesia monitoring, preparing equipment for next day such as sterilizing and packing of instruments, taking x rays, running blood work, giving vaccines, preparation of medication.
