Thrive Frederick is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a veterinary assistant you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and supporting services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.

• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state’s Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians.

• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.

• Maintain medical records with practice systems.

• Obtain health history from clients and maintain medical charts.

• Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.

• Support and mentor fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• 1-2 years of clinical experience

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred, or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, starting at $18 – $22/hour. The actual offer will consider your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
