Company Description
Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented practice with wonderful clients. We currently have eight doctors of veterinary medicine and over sixty support staff across our hospital, grooming, and boarding/training facilities. Our team is like family, and we seek individuals who are self-starters, eager to learn, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Pet restraint, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, diagnostic imaging, medical and hospitalized case management, medication administration, communication of treatment plans, and surgical assistance.
Must withstand odors and noises; may be exposed to bites, scratches, waste, and contagious diseases.
Opportunities for growth through virtual and hands-on training and continuing education.
Qualifications
We’re looking for:
An experienced Veterinary Assistant with at least 1 year of experience preferred.
Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker, and strong communicator.
Ability to properly restrain pets.
Proficiency in sample collection, medical histories, lab tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a plus.
Self-motivated with a desire to expand skills.
Working Conditions
Ability to sit or stand for long periods, work at a computer, and be confident around various animals.
Flexibility to work beyond 40 hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Must have good reasoning, memory, math, and language skills.
Moderately high noise level; ear protection available.
Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and mobility to sit, stand, walk, and manipulate objects.
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required.
Exposure to animals that may bite, kick, or scratch, and potential hazards like anesthesia and biological agents.
