About Us:
Furgent Care is a new veterinary urgent care practice providing evening and weekend services in Virginia Beach. Our goal, as a privately owned hospital, is to try and address the systemic problems in veterinary medicine that have led to the staffing shortages that are being seen across the country. We strive to create a healthy work environment with a focus on equitable compensation and continuing education for ALL team members such that we can provide consistent, high quality care to our patients while also supporting our staff.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures
Handle and restrain animals safely and with a stress free focus
Perform basic laboratory tests such as bloodwork and urinalysis
Administer medications and treatments
Triage patients and collect an accurate history
Communicating and educating clients on patient status and treatment plans
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the hospital
Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the hospital
Check-in/check out clients as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification as a Veterinary Assistant preferred but not required
Strong passion for working with animals and providing excellent patient care
Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to be part of a team
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
