Full Job Description
Elpaw Veterinary Clinic has an opening for a veterinary technician or assistant. We are an AAHA accredited 2 doctor practice with 9 employees. We are a well-established practice that takes pride in the reputation that we have developed while serving Alexandria since 1947!
We know veterinary work can be a stressful job from the front staff to the back. We aim at minimizing that stress to allow our staff a good work/life balance. Our office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday. Currently there is no after hours on-call/emergency as these are directed to local urgent care and emergency clinics. We also rotate Saturdays and try to give the entire staff every other Saturday off.
We are looking for a candidate who is:
Reliable and punctual
Passionate about patient care
Can gently and effectively restrain patients
Friendly and professional with clients and staff
Able to lift at least 40 pounds
1 year of experience preferred
Duties include:
Client education and communication
Patient assessment
Anesthesia and surgery assisting
Diagnostic Imaging
Dentistry
Catheter placement
Venipuncture
Laboratory sample collection and processing
Pharmacy
The veterinary technician/assistant position is a full time, 35-40 hours per week position. Starting hourly rate is $16 and is negotiable with prior work experience. Experienced candidates are preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate if needed.
