Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing top-notch care to animals whether they visiting our clinic for wellness appointments, surgical procedures, or boarding while owners are out of town. Since we do offer boarding services candidates must be willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Previous animal experience is a must, and veterinary experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Duties include but are not limited to:
– Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal care and procedures
– Provide daily feeding and cleaning of boarding and hospitalized patients
– Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or distress to veterinarians and veterinary technicians
– Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and other areas of the facility
– Assist with animal handling, including restraining and moving animals
– Handle and care for animals in a variety of settings, including kennels, exam rooms, and treatment areas
– Maintain accurate electronic medical records of animal care and treatment
– Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure the highest level of animal care
Qualifications:
– Experience working with animals, preferably in a veterinary setting
– Knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology
– Ability to lift and move animals as needed
– Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
– Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment
– Comfortable with animal handling and restraint
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
