Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization looking for a DVM to join our lifesaving team! We are looking for either one full time (32-40 hours per week) or two part time veterinarians. Must be able to acquire an IL DVM license within six months of hire. This position combines shelter medicine with community non-profit medicine and is incredibly rewarding! The position is a mix of shelter pet surgery, foster/shelter pet medical appointments and our low-cost community walk-in wellness and medical clinic. In this position, you will truly make a difference in the lives pets and people in a resource desert work with some of most grateful pet owners you will ever meet. You will work alongside a rock star veterinary team including another DVM, three vet techs, a receptionist and Clinic Manager. Responsibilities:
– Provide examinations, vaccinations, medical care, and treatment to GPG intake and shelter/foster pets using the GPG shelter medicine model
– Perform spay/neuter surgeries and other medical procedures on GPG intake and shelter/foster pets
– Provide examinations and medical care to community owned pets through our walk-in community clinics
– Educate pet owners on preventative measures
– Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Requirements:
– Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree
– Strong knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy
– Proficient in animal handling, restraint, and husbandry techniques
– Skilled in performing laboratory tests and interpreting results
– Experience with animal catheterization and aseptic technique

Pay: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour
